George Michael was 'desperate to become a father and planning to have children next year'

And now it has been reported that the Faith singer was desperate to become a father, with plans to start a family in the New Year.

According to the Daily Star, the performer was inspired by close pal Sir Elton John, who had his two sons through a surrogate.

George had been in a long-term relationship with Australian Fadi Fawaz for the last four years.

“George’s dream was to be a father,” a source told the publication.
“He wanted to adopt or use a surrogate.

"It was his big aim, supported by Elton and David all the way.

“When Elton took the step, George knew he too had at last moved into that part of his life.

"To not have his own family, he felt incomplete. It was a missing link he craved.

"George always wanted to be a father, he wished his mother were alive to see the day. To start a family was on his to-do list for 2017.”

The musician was also believed to have confided in Spice Girl Geri Horner about his plans to have children.

The star reportedly wanted a big family due to his Greek heritage, and felt it was important not to become a “chequebook dad”, said the insider.

During his life, the musician was godfather to a host of celebrity children, including Roman Kemp, James Kennedy and Geri’s daughter Bluebell.

George died “peacefully at home” last week, shocking the nation on Christmas Day.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Since then, tributes to the popstar have flooded in from his family, friends and fans still in disbelief.

And Fadi took to Twitter to express his heartbreak at the loss of his partner.

"It's a xmas I will never forget finding your partner dead peacefully in bed first thing in the morning..,(sic)” the celebrity hairdresser wrote.

"I will never stop missing you xx."
